Last updated: October 27, 2026 (added the optional Mail Agent)
MacMail ("the app") is a desktop email client for macOS published by Axisway ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data the app accesses and how it is handled.
By default MacMail runs locally on your Mac: your mail travels directly between your Mac and your email provider (for example Google), and nothing is sent to us.
If you turn on the optional Mail Agent for a mailbox, that mailbox is additionally processed on an Axisway server and message contents are sent to Anthropic (the provider of the Claude AI model) to sort your mail. This section is off until you enable it, and you can turn it off at any time. Details are below.
https://mail.google.com/, openid, email and profile. These are used to read, search and display your messages and folders, mark messages as read, send email you compose, and show your email address and name in the app.Data is used solely to provide the email features you use inside the app. We do not sell data, use it for advertising, build user profiles, or use it to train AI or machine-learning models. Anthropic processes the content it receives under its own privacy policy.
Without the Mail Agent, the app does not transfer your data to us or to third parties; data is exchanged only with your own email provider. With the Mail Agent enabled, data is shared only with Axisway's server and Anthropic as described above, and only to provide that feature.
MacMail's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Removing an account in MacMail (right-click the account → “Remove mailbox”) deletes its stored token or password from the Keychain. You can also revoke MacMail's access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Deleting the app removes its local preferences.
All connections to mail servers use TLS. Secrets are kept in the macOS Keychain and are never written to plain files.
MacMail is not directed to children under 13.
We may update this policy; the date above shows the latest revision.
